Lenovo K3 Smartphone: Directly compete Xiaomi Redmi 1S

Saturday, 27 December 2014

Lenovo has introduced a new budget smartphone called the K3 in China. The smartphone was

listed by a Chinese online retailer, JD; with an impressive price roughly Rs. 6,000. The Lenovo K3

is being touted as a direct competitor of Xiaomi's popular budget Redmi 1S smartphone.

A Chinese publication claims that the Lenovo K3 will be available only online, just like Xiaomi

handsets. So far no announcements have been made by Lenovo regarding K3's global

availability.

The new budget smartphone from the company is available to buy in China via JD's e-commerce

website as the Lenovo K3 Music Lemon.

The Lenovo K3 features a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display with a pixel density of 294ppi.

The listing notes that the smartphone sports a sleek profile of 7.9mm. The Lenovo K3 is

powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz alongside

1GB of RAM. There is 16GB of inbuilt storage with microSD card support.

The Redmi 1S, on the other hand, came with a 4.7-inch HD display; powered by a 1.6GHz quad-

core Snapdragon 400 SoC; 1GB of RAM, and packs 8GB of built-in storage with expandable

storage support.

The Chinese handset brand back in October had revealed that it plans to create a new mobile

brand and company next year to counter the sudden rise of Xiaomi, which is just a three-year

old company. The company had claimed that its new smartphone brand and company would

mainly focus on selling mobile phones online, and officially open for business in April 2015.

Xiaomi Piston: For Style and Performance

Friday, 26 December 2014

Ever since the Chinese company Xiaomi entered the Indian market with aggressively-priced high

quality smartphones, everyone has been sitting up and taking notice of all its moves. That's not

all; the company has also introduced accessories including cases, power banks and a pair of in-

ear earphones.

It is their marketing stratagy that even so, the Xiaomi Piston in-ear earphones finds themselves

in a price range that is replete with options. The Cowon EM1, Creative EP630, SoundMAGIC ES

18 and Panasonic RP-TCM125E-K Ergofit are really good options.

Xiaomi don't give headgear with their phones, it is very rare and strategic marketing move

because everyone talks about that and that directly benefit product sale.

The Piston managed to drown out a significant amount of office chatter but could not really

suppress the sound of a moving train, which is much louder. It also sounded great for watching

movies on the move, since the mid-range is reproduced well.

Verdict

At the current price of Rs. 799, the Xiaomi Piston in-ear earphones are a must buy for anyone

who owns a Xiaomi smartphone, and definitely a great option to consider for folks who use

other Android phones.

Gionee Marathon M3 All Charged Up

Thursday, 25 December 2014

A few smartphone companies are experimenting by providing higher capacity batteries in their

smartphones, thereby adding a little bulk. We prefer this approach since the race to build

anorexic smartphones is going a little too far in our opinion.

Gionee experimented with a massive 4200mAh battery in its Marathon M2 smartphone. The

Chinese company has already released its successor, the Gionee Marathon M3. We've seen a

feature phone, the Maxx Power House MX200, tout a 5200mAh battery but the Marathon M3

is the first Android smartphone we've come across that boasts of a 5,000mAh battery. Let's find

out if the Marathon M3 can cross the finish line with energy to spare.

The Marathon M3 is not distinctive with respect to its candybar design, and Gionee has decided

to keep things simple. The design is purely utilitarian, which is not bad at all. At the heart of it

all is the massive battery, which is unsurprisingly non-removable. The sheer size of this battery

contributes to the phone's 10.4mm thickness and 180.3g weight. We are not complaining about

this heft because it is actually reassuring, and the Marathon M3 does feel comfortable to hold

and use with one hand.

The phone is running the latest Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) with Gionee's proprietary skin Amigo UI

on top of it. However, the flavour of Amigo in this phone is slightly different. Unlike the Gionee

Elife S5.1 (Review | Pictures) we reviewed a little while ago, Amigo UI on this phone has a

dedicated app drawer and home screens. In that sense, except for the bright colour palette, the

software is not too different from stock Android 4.4.2. Just like what we saw on the Elife S5.1,

Gionee bundles a ton of bloatware most of which are not fun to use. You'd be better off

deleting a few right at the onset of using the phone.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G Vs Yu Yureka Smartphone

Well, if Xiaomi can offer a 4G smartphone for under Rs 10,000 then Yu, Micromax co-brand can

better that by introducing Yureka for under Rs 9,000. Yu's Yureka has taken over the laurels of

becoming cheapest Android phone with 4G supports, right now in India. We expect more

names to follow up on this listing in the coming months but for now, Yu can live with that.

To give you a fairer idea about how Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and Yu Yureka are similar to each

other on price point but different from experience point of view, we've made this comparison

chart. See for yourself and figure out the value offered by both these affordable 4G devices.

All in all, Redmi Note makes use of the existing credentials of Xiaomi in India, whereas Yu,

which might be a Micromax co-brand but still has a lot of work to do alongside Cyanogen Inc.

On paper Yureka sort of trumps the Redmi Note but we'll get more clarity on the performance

standards of Yureka in the coming weeks, when it will be available in the country. For now,

Yureka feels like a good start but as always, we want more.

Microsoft Lumia 535 Dual SIM Review

The Lumia 535 Dual SIM is an important phone for Microsoft, as its first Windows Phone that

has been announced globally sans the iconic Nokia branding. Will the first Microsoft Lumia

phone manage to uphold the legacy of Nokia's great designs, build quality, performance and

cameras?

Look and feel

Not much is new in the design department, as the Microsoft Lumia 535 Dual SIM carries

forward the same trend of colorful plastic rear shells that we are accustomed to seeing with

Lumia phones. However, the build quality leaves a lot to be desired. We were thoroughly

unimpressed with the rear shell flexing when pressed, and the popping sound it makes because

it doesn't fit very well. This makes us believe that the plastic used for the rear shell is not of a

very high quality.

Microsoft uses on-screen buttons for navigation. Above the screen lie the front camera and the

earpiece. There is a tiny speaker grille at the bottom on the rear. The primary camera is on a

slight bump on the rear. The Micro-USB port is on the bottom of the phone whereas the 3.5mm

audio jack sits on the top. The power button and volume rocker are on the right edge of the

phone and they have great tactile feedback.

The phone has 5-megapixel cameras on both the rear and the front. The primary camera on the

rear has a 1/4-inch sensor and a flash. The front camera on the other hand has the same 24mm

wide angle lens as its elder sibling, the Lumia 730 Dual SIM. On the connectivity front, the

phone supports 3G, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. It has a relatively small 1,905mAh battery.

Micromax's first Yu smartphone, Yureka launched with octa core chip for Rs 8,999

Micromax's first Yu brand smartphone, Yureka comes with Snapdragon 615 octa core CPU and a

huge 5.5 inch display. Micromax today unveiled a new brand Yu, as reported earlier. The first

phone under this brand is Yureka. The handset is priced at just Rs 8,999 and registration for the

phone will start from December 19 on Amazon.in. Micromax is also promising special gift worth

Rs 999.The Yureka comes with a 64 bit Snapdragon 615 octa core processor that has a clock

speed of 1.5 GHz and Adreno 405 GPU and claims to have Antutu benchmark score of 31117. It

comes with CAT 4 LTE (4G) connectivity that is said to be 15 times higher data transfer rate

offering speed up to 150 Mbps. Besides, it has a huge 5.5 inch IPS display but with only high

definition resolution and not full HD which would have made justice to this huge screen. The

display has though Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It comes in Moonstone finish and comes

with a leather back panel. The Yureka has a 13 megapixel rear camera with f2.2 apreture and

Sony Exmor sensor and 5P lens. The camera can capture slow motion videos in 30 FPS. In the

front, it has a 5 megapixel camera with 4P lens and OV5648 sensor. It has 16 GB inbuilt storage

and 2 GB DDR3 RAM. There is an expandable storage slot too for a micro SD card of up to 32GB.

Besides, the Yureka has a 2500 mAh battery that claims to offer 7 hours of 4G talktime, or 8

hours of 3G talktime, or 9 hours of 2G talktime, or 6 hours of music playback with maximum

brightness. As is known, Yureka like all other Yu brand phones has a customised Cyanogen 11

operating system based on Android 4.4.4 version. As is known, it offers bootloader access to

help users come up with software upgrades that they want on their phones. Yureka users will

also be the first to get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update from Cyanogen. Besides, the phone will

allow users access to Kernel source and its warrantee will not be void if rooted. Micromax is

also promising free doorstep repair service (complaints can be genreated online) and promising

OTA (over the air) updates every month.

Verdicts: Bang for the Bucks.

Intex Aqua Xtreme

Intex on Thursday launched the octa-core Aqua Xtreme smart phone in India at Rs. 11,490. It is

a dual-SIM device which runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box, but upgradable to Android

5.0 Lollipop, says Intex.

The Intex Aqua Xtreme features a 5-inch HD IPS display with scratch-free Dragontrail glass

protection. The smartphone is powered by a 1.7GHz true octa-core processor coupled with 2GB

of RAM.

It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while there is a secondary 5-megapixel

front-facing camera also onboard. The Intex Aqua Xtreme comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage,

which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).

On the connectivity front, the Intex Aqua Xtreme offers 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB,

Bluetooth, and FM radio options. The handset is backed by a 2000mAh battery and is 6.99mm

thick. The Aqua Xtreme is available in three colors options - Red, Black and Grey.

Intex Cloud FX Review: Firefox OS

This is where the Mozilla Foundation comes in. Firefox OS, after a couple of years in the making,

is now here in full force. The company made a splash at this year's Mobile World Congress by

announcing a 1800/- smartphone is partnership with a little-known Chinese firm named

Spreadtrum. This device has become the basis of both the two Firefox OS devices launched in

India this week: the Intex Cloud FX.

The one thing that sets Mozilla apart from everyone else who has tried and failed at this game

is that it is a non-profit organisation. That means it doesn't have the same concerns and

motivations as everyone else, which not only reduces costs and attracts partners, but also

allows the organisation to push for open standards.

With its ultra-low-cost strategy in India, Mozilla clearly isn't competing with the heavyweights.

It has its sights locked on the crucial first-time smartphone buyer who is either upgrading from

a simple candybar phone or has never owned a mobile phone at all.

This is pretty much as simple as a touchscreen phone can get. There's a lot of plastic

surrounding the screen, including a very thick "chin" which is broken up by the lone capacitive

navigation button. Mozilla has chosen a simple circle for its Home button icon and all other

interaction is carried out using on-screen controls - more in line with iOS than Android.

The Intex Cloud FX's specifications are so meagre that we have to admire the fact a full-fledged

mobile OS can actually run on such a device. For starters, the processor is a poky 1GHz single-

core ARM Cortex-A5 derivative designed by Spreadtrum. At least there's an integrated Mali-400

GPU for graphics. There's a paltry 128MB of RAM, which is a quarter of what we would consider

the barest of bare minimums for a respectable budget Android device. The 2-megapixel camera

is about all we can expect at this price level, and there's no flash. There is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Don't expect 3G data - you're limited to EDGE speeds when not in range of a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Of course the main attraction here is Firefox OS, and we're counting on it to be optimised

enough to make run well on the feeble hardware. In terms of its look and feel, Firefox OS isn't

too far removed from Android or iOS. A few things are unique though - not all the icons

represent apps which are installed on the phone. That's probably a good thing considering the

severe lack of available storage space, but it also means you're dependent on an Internet

connection.

Our Cloud FX unit came with an instant messaging app called ConnectA2 preloaded, which

claimed to offer "experimental" interoperability with Whatsapp but failed to let us even create

an account when we tried it.

Most of the time, the Intex Cloud FX is easy to use and in fact, the menus are surprisingly

responsive. There is definitely lag when flipping through the menu and launching apps, but not

more so than on budget Android phones.

Firefox OS is a well-built, well-designed platform, but then we can say the same about so many

others as well. The one thing it has going for it right now is that devices based on it can

undercut even the cheapest Android phones, thus creating a whole new market for itself and

avoiding direct competition.

CUBOT S168 Review: An outstanding phone under 6000/-

Tuesday, 23 December 2014

In the past few months, we have seen a number of new releases from the Chinese

manufacturer Cubot. In fact, two of those devices, namely the Cubot S200 and the Cubot S168

made it to our best Chinese smartphones under 6000/ list recently.

Today, we are looking at the cheapest model from that list, i.e. the Cubot S168. The device is

available for less than $80, which is a great price for the features that it offers. But with this

cheap price tag, there are many people who doubt the build quality of the device. So, today, we

decided to take a close look at the Cubot S168.

In this Cubot S168 Review, we will look at the phone’s design; build quality, hardware as well as

its software, thereby helping you make a purchase decision.

You can’t expect much from a $80 phone, but to be honest, the Cubot S168 exceeds our

expectation by all means. Although the design is pretty basic with only two color options –

black and white, the overall build quality of the phone is impressive. Unlike other cheap

Chinese phones that we have seen in the past, Cubot S168 looks like the device which is last.

Everything feels sturdy and even the buttons feel responsive.

The power and the volume keys are placed on the right side of the phone. The left side is

completely clean. At the bottom you have a microphone and a slot for opening the rear panel.

Finally, on top you have the microUSB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The back panel has a

smooth finish, but it’s not slippery.

We liked almost everything about Cubot S168’s hardware except for one thing, the battery. The

phone comes with just 1,900mAh battery which you may find a bit small. Agreed that the qHD

resolution and the power efficient quad-core processor should help increase the battery life,

but according to me, Cubot should have gone with a slightly larger battery, something around

2,200 mAh to 2,500 mAh. That way, you don’t have to worry about charging the device in

between the day as there is a very good chance that it would last throughout the day.

Now phones these days don’t sacrifice on connectivity features. The same goes with Cubot

S168 which comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GSM + WCDMA support.

For a phone that just costs $79, the Cubot 168 looks and feels much more premium than it

actually is. The build quality is good (strong and durable), the qHD screen is more than enough

for your everyday entertainment needs, the hardware is powerful enough for lag free

performance and the software is practical. All in all, the Cubot S168 looks like a great buy

especially if you are short on cash.

You can purchase the Cubot S168 at just 5000/- approx. with free Shipping from GearBest.

Micromax's Yu Yureka Legal tussle and Questions Remains

Micromax made the announcement last month when it said the Yu brand of smartphones will

run Cyanogen OS, the commercial variant of the Android-based operating system popular with

the 'hacker' community that loves being in control of their devices. No other details were

shared at that point.

Things became more confusing with a legal tussle over Cyanogen rights in India between

Micromax and OnePlus. Micromax has an exclusive agreement with Cyanogen for distribution

of Cyanogen OS-powered phones in India and other South Asian countries. This meant that

OnePlus, which recently announced in entry in India with the launch of OnePlus One (another

Cyanogen OS powered smartphone, refer previous review) had to halt sales.

While most can't hide their excitement looking at the price tag, we are firmly in the "if

something sounds too good to be true, it usually is" camp. The HTC Desire 820, which has

nearly identical specifications as the Yu Yureka, is being sold at a price tag that's nearly 3 times

that of the Yureka. While HTC usually sells its devices at a bit of a premium, the Desire 820 is

pretty decently priced for the hardware, so you have to wonder how Micromax is planning to

sell a similar device at the fraction of the cost.

It's no surprise then Micromax is inspired by another company that's been selling devices at a

discount compared to ones with similar specifications - Xiaomi. The Yu Yureka will be sold via

the flash sale model made infamous by Xiaomi, wherein customers will need to pre-register at

Amazon India and then compete with each other to complete the purchase. But some get

problem in that also.

Micromax did not answer queries on how many units will be made available for the first and

subsequent sales, but everything points to the fact that the Yu Yureka might be harder to get

than any of Xiaomi smartphones. We hope Micromax is more open about how many Yureka

smartphones will be up for grabs in each flash sale closer to the date, so customers know

exactly what they are getting into, and it's not a case of lakhs of people competing to buy a

handful of units.

While that may sound like music to the ears of those associated with Micromax's Yu Yureka

smartphone, recent history has shown it doesn't take long for what sounds like great. Let's the

coming time tale whole story.

Delhi High Court Instructions Xiaomi to Postpone Smartphone Sales in India.

Wednesday, 17 December 2014

The Delhi High Court in a meantime or temporary time order has limited and held down Xiaomi

as well as buying things online firm Flipkart from selling in India handsets of the Chinese mobile

maker that run on the technology patented by Ericsson.

The court has also limited and held down Xiaomi or its agents from making, putting together or

say grouping together, importing or offering for sale its devices which are violating the mobile

phone technology patented by Ericsson.

The two firms have been order to stop selling violating devices until February 5, when the court

is due to hear the case. Xiaomi entered India in July this year and has been a huge hit among

customers in a market that has at least 80 different phone makers including Samsung and a

bunch of domestic firms.

Justice G P Mittal directed the customs people in charge to prevent import of Xiaomi phones

that are violating the patents of Ericsson and if any givement is imported, the same is informed

to Ericsson and its objections be decided as per the Thinking-related Property Rules.

Ericsson in a statement on Thursday said it had to take legal action against Xiaomi in India for

using its technology in its smart phone devices without paying it a licensing fee.

"To continue investing in research and enabling the development of new ideas, new standards

and new platforms to the industry, we must get a fair return on our R&D investments," the

Swedish company said.

The chief of Xiaomi's India operations said the company had yet to receive an official notice

from the Delhi High Court and that it was willing to work with Ericsson to resolve the issue "in a

friendly way".

"Our legal team is now figuring out the worth, amount, or quality of the situation based on the

information we have," said Xiaomi's Manu Jain. He did not give details about the case.

Flipkart also said it was still to receive an official notice and would work with Xiaomi and the

people in charge.

Xolo Omega 5.0 & 5.5: A Solid Entry-Level Selection

Since its beginning, Xolo has been trying to establish itself as a premium Indian Smartphone

product. While it hasn't tried attacking the absolute top-end of flagship devices, it has

determined on the lower mid-range where most of the action is. Xolo has so far done fairly

well, with a number of models that prioritised inspiring features such as gaming performance

and a custom Android UI.

These near-twins, the Xolo Omega 5.0 and the Omega 5.5 still promise some fairly impressive

specifications. The two have a lot in common, with the main differences being screen size,

camera resolution and battery capability. There's 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage space which

is normal for phones in this price range. Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 are standard. The rear

camera takes 8-megapixel stills and 1080p video, while the front camera is a 2-megapixel unit.

The 2,100mAh battery is also just about standard for this category.

Xolo's new push into this competitive space is likely to be met with a warm welcome. While this

phone isn't as polished as some of its competition in terms of outward appearances, it has

more than sufficient going for it to make that immaterial. The 5-inch screen is a good

compromise between size and portability, and for those who want more there's either the

Redmi Note or the Omega 5.5 and Redmi Note currently not available in India.

HUAWEI HONOR 6

If you are looking for something cheap yet don't want to settle for less than a very important,

Huawei Honor 6 is probably your best bet. The company is well known, operates in some

people around the world who buy things and is known to release low-priced and well built

devices.

The latest Huawei Honor 6 brings all the standard features you would expect from a very

important device at a price that would only get you a mid range device, had it been a well

known international manufacturer like Samsung or Sony.

But this is Huawei we are talking about so you get an Octa Core HiSilicon Kirin processor clocked

at 1.7 GHz. You have 3GB RAM onboard along with 16/32GB internal storage option, which like

the OPPO N3 can be expanded using an external MicroSD card slot.

decent pictures.

Heating may be its biggest issue, but most smartphones these days heat up a little bit, hence

we don’t feel this should stop you from buying the device.

Remember, this a 5.0 inch 1080p phone just like the Xiaomi Mi4, so if you don’t like phablets,

this is a good option.

Huawei Honor 6 is now available for a discounted price of Rs 19,999 on flipkart with 16 GB

internal storage option.

HTC Desire 620 Mid-Range Smartphone

Tuesday, 2 December 2014

HTC has just made the rumored Desire 620 official. The company has announced the device in

its home country Taiwan, and it will be available in 3G and LTE versions.

The Desire 620 and the Desire 620G brag almost the same specifications, although with a

couple of differences. The former supports LTE connectivity and is powered by a 1.2GHz 64-bit

Flower 410 quad-core processor, while the last thing just mentioned is the 3G version and is

powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor.

Apart from these differences the smartphones feature a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display,

1GB of RAM, and 8GB internal storage space that can be prolonged using a microSD card. On

the photography front, the devices house an 8-megapixel rear camera alongside a 5-megapixel

front-facing camera. They run on Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6 UI out-of-the-box and pack a

2,100mAh battery. Connectivity wise, both have dual-SIM capabilities, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

These specifications are in line with earlier leak.

As for pricing, the Desire 620 costs Rs 14,000 approximately, and the Desire 620G is priced at Rs

10,000 approximately. HTC is said to be launching the Desire 620 in Taiwan on December 1,

while the Desire 620G should be released in mid-December. There is currently no word on

when the device will be released in other markets including India.

Asus ZenFone 6 Review

If you had carefully studied the buzz on social networking websites after the launch of Asus'

ZenFone series in India, it would look like the ZenFone 5 stole all the attention from its sisters.

The ZenFone 6 and ZenFone 4 could have seemed almost like little after an event. Despite this

step-motherly treatment by Asus, both phones are great devices in their own rights and are

low-priced too.

The ZenFone 6 is a low-priced phablet with great specifications. We thought its smaller brother

or sister ZenFone 5 set a really good test result for other phone companies in the budget part or

section, so in the same way and the same topic, we intend to find out if Asus has truly managed

to create the perfect mid-range phablet for the public.

Look and Feel

All three models in the newly-launched Asus ZenFone series share the same design way of

thinking and related to learning about how people think - mostly plastic bodies with a dash of

metal added for strength. The Asus ZenFone 6 review unit that we had was the Charcoal Black

version. The phone is also available in Pearl White, Cherry Red and Bubbly wine Gold.

Features and Specifications

Asus has fitted the ZenFone 6 with an Intel Atom Z2580 dual-core SoC clocked at 2GHz with

Hyper-Threading technology which allows up to four threads to run at once. The phablet also

has 2GB of RAM. Asus provides 16GB of internal storage, of which only 12.2GB is available to

use. This can be extended to up to 64GB using microSD cards.

The 6-inch screen has a resolution of 720x1280, which translates to a pixel density of 245ppi. It

has very good saturation in the colours that are displayed but is dim even at its highest

brightness setting. As a result of this, sunlight legibility takes a hit. On the other hand, viewing

angles are decent. Asus bundles an app called Splendid which can change to make better or

change to fit new conditions display settings such as color temperature, color and saturation,

though the changes aren't really noticeable.

Camera

Asus' camera app has been built from ground up. It features tons of manual options that pro

users can play around with. There are also a few filters that can be added before taking a

photograph. Multiple shooting modes are also available. Asus has created new things with its

Selfie mode, in which the rear camera can focus on as many as four faces and capture an image

automatically. It worked perfectly every time.

The 13-megapixel camera still does not hold a candle to the HTC Desire 816's shooter. As far as

image quality goes, captured details are acceptable and there was no noise in our daylight

shots. It's not bad - the 'but' here is that the camera draws attention to reds to create a pinkish

small amount of color in captured shots.

Samsung Z1: Tizen Powered Smartphone

South Korea's giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd plans to launch a new sub roughly Rs. 6,200

smartphone run on its own Tizen operating system in India later on this month, South Korea's

Maeil Trade Newspaper said on Monday.

The paper, a Trade daily, said Samsung will possess a press conference on December 10 to

commence its first Tizen smartphone, to be calling the Z1. A Samsung Electronics spokeswoman

would not say anything.

Rumors have been twisting and flowing for months that Samsung, the world's largest

smartphone maker, could announce a low-end Tizen OS-based smartphone in India this

December. Just before its release the gossip makers and sellers seem be very busy leaking

information whose truthfulness is still to be confirmed.

Samsung had at first planned to launch a Tizen smartphone in Russia in the third quarter but

scrapped the plan. The firm said at the time that it wanted to further improve the community

behind Tizen. Only a handful of devices, including the firm's smartwatch products, now run on

the platform.

The rumor-makers also talk about to say Samsung's Z1, known to be the cheapest Tizen-

powered smartphone, will feature a 4-inch WVGA display, 1.2GHz dual-core Spreadtrum

SC7727S processor, Mali-400 GPU, 512MB RAM, a 3.2-megapixel first or most important

camera with LED flash, and a VGA front-facing camera, dual-SIM card slots, 3G/2G GSM

connectivity, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, and FM Radio. Well, don't expect brilliant specs from

the Samsung Z1. Just like the Android One range of phones, it looks like this could be another

mid-range device, offering average specifications

Most Samsung's mobile devices are based on Google's Android platform. The South Korean

firm's push to develop its own operating system is part of efforts to reduce dependence on the

U.S. firm, but delays in product launches have weaken offered and lower prices than.

Xiaomi Redmi Note and Redmi Note 4G: First Impressions

Xiaomi on Monday launch the Redmi Note and Redmi Note 4G phablets in India. The Xiaomi

Redmi Note is priced at Rs. 8,999 and will be sold through the company's online retail partner

Flip kart in India. Flare sale registrations will start from November 25 at 6pm IST, and the first

sale will happen on December 2, almost same way the Xiaomi Mi 3 and Redmi 1S have been

sold so far. Xiaomi says that the 4G version is specifically made for India, and it supports FDD

LTE band 3 and TDD LTE band 40.

Both the Redmi Note and Redmi Note 4G look the same, and there is no difference at all from

the outside. Honest, both smartphones feature 5.5-inch HD (720x1280-pixel) IPS LCD displays

with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Especially, Xiaomi offers the Redmi Note in some areas

without protective glass.

The screens appear full of life and offer good sunlight legibility at full brightness. The rear

panels have a glossy finish, which makes them likely to experience fingerprints. The devices feel

very slippery, though their rounded edges still let you get a good grip, and they sit well in your

palm. Overall the smartphones appeared very well optimised with 2GB of RAM on both, though

the Redmi Note packs a 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek processor, while the Redmi Note 4G runs

on a quad-core 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU.

Both smartphones attribute 13-megapixel back auto focus cameras with LED flash, and 5-

megapixel front-facing cameras. Who tested the rear camera in different lighting conditions

find the outcome appears fairly respectable.

So far, the Xiaomi Redmi Note and Redmi Note 4G turn out to be visible to offer great value for

money.

Reason i Bought kindle, review and its benefits

Tuesday, 4 November 2014

Being a IT Guy, i have to read lot of books and stay updated , i just did shopping for over 19000 worth of books from flipkart and amazon combined. in just 3-4 days, since i am switching to open source from my current Microsoft technology, so lot of study and research had to be done

problem with books they take weeks to arrive, and i was fooled by 1 of the vendor on amazon for not delivering 1 book ,i was not present when the package arrived, and mom paid taking the package, when i opened there was only 1 book, but on cover it said 2 books and billed for it..

problem with online shopping is, you need to be present when the package arrives, these vendors tries to scape goat, when they dont have product, they just send u empty or different item , numerous times i have been fooled by online shopping, amazon and flipkart just forwards the orders to the vendors who then try to fool customers, and its a long and complicated return and refund policy, which will waste lot of time, being an IT guy i dont have time

the reason i bought this is the books come lot cheaper on kindle and lot of free ebooks are also available, and it is instant, which i like the most, imagine if you want to learn new technology, you order a book and it takes weeks to come, here on kindle is instant, moment you order its available
NO TIME WASTE ALWAYS HAS BEEN BY MOTO

when it arrives, it looks like it has a card board over the screen, and i tried to remove it, but its not cardboard its a screen, whenever u start and close the application new screen appears, its amazing

see the screen looks like just  paper book, so the screen is quite different from mobiles or tab, it is just like paper, you can also read it in dark, and dont have adjust light or switch on light, you can read any room regardless of light quality there, it screen is specifically made for reading, so good readers who like reading, should have it, instead reading on mobile phone or tab, this is better choice

this is its navigation menu, you can add ebooks from your computer, and they will be visible in d
evice section, and the books you purchased from amazon will be available on cloud section

But the problem i found with it is, it doesnt display pdf files
from computers properly, but that kind of okay

Kindle is a good way to read books, navigation is confusing at start , till you get used to it, screen has to be a little bigger, but even with the current size it is quite comfortable to read, so if you are spending lot on books, you can save money using kindle, and this is how we in future would be reading, less paper and more computer, use pen and paper is shredding, hardly any educated guy keeps pen in his pocket, nor a dairy.

i bought this kindle mentioned, above, it was available for 8330, few days ago, i waited, thought price will reduce, but didn't so i bought that up

Samsung S5 vs Apple iPhone 6 Plus

Sunday, 28 September 2014

i was planning to buy iphone 6 plus, and so was doing research, and found out the price to be whooping 82000+ that too unlocked, as it is not yet released in India

iphone has a clever marketing strategy, they make iphone buyers feel special by having a very high price, so not many people can afford and only rich can have it, having it makes the buyer feel like he is an elite class and can boast about it, really there is nothing that great in iphone 6, its just a clever marketing strategy

i will compare it with samsung galaxy S5, which is available for less than half the price of iphone 6 plus

i will compare with the main things, things which really matters

samsung s5 camera, samsung s5 camera is 16 megapixel, while iphone 6+ is just 8 mega pixel
so samsung scores here s5+1

camcorder, samsung is 30 frames per second, while apple is 60 frames per second with hd recording
so iphone +1

display size, samsung s5 is 5.1 and iphone6+ is 5.5 inches,so here iphone+1

front facing camera samsung 2.1 mega pixels while apple 1.2
s5+1

system memory Samsung 2048 mb while apple 1024mb
so samsung+1

storage expansion Samsung has support for memory card, you can increase your storage memory, while in apple no memory card support so Samsung +1

price Samsung 38000 around, while apple 82000+ as of now
so Samsung +1

sound quality, apple sound quality is good, but Samsung sound quality is not so good
so apple+1

Samsung score is 5
apple score is 3

and also Samsung has android it is open source and lot of software's are available for it, while apple has limited software's

you can clearly see  in many cases  apple is behind the Samsung in many features, and yet the price is more than double

people who are rich want something which normally nobody have, it is a thing to boast, it is normal tendency of people costly means more quality, but its generally not.

in the past Nokia phones were costly, but Chinese phone less than half the price of Nokia had the best features, and some features were not available on any other mobile phones

Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Samsung Galaxy Note 4:

C:\Users\Santosh\Desktop\Samsung-Galaxy-Note-Price.jpg

After that of endorsing its phones as "the next big thing," Samsung understands that bigger isn't essentially finer. Two new Galaxy Note smartphones starting from Samsung are nearby the similar size as last year's Note 3. What's dissimilar: A side screen on one of them and high-pitched cameras on both of them?
The new Galaxy Note 4 is a beneficiary to last year's Note 3 and holds its 5.7-inch display. The Galaxy Note Edge's display is 5.6 inches and outspreads over the right side and curves near the back, making a second screen on the side.

The side screen is people’s preferred of the new phone features. It can display climate and time while the phone is rested on a stand or nightstand. You can improve logos for fast approach to applications you use commonly, such as Gmail. But it's too prompt to tell whether this side screen will finally be important or just a stunt. Both phones have 16-megapixel back cameras to equal that in the 5.1-inch Galaxy S5. The face cameras stand 3.7 megapixels, better than maximum phones. Software will benefit more people fitting into selfies by cross-stitch together a little side-by-side pictures. The Note phones also derive some ideas from personal computers. The button on the comprised stylus will work like the mouse button on Personal Computers. There are novel types to resize displays and have multiple applications run alongside on the similar display.
